College Choice

The College Choice Program, launched in 2022, offers services and supports to youth in foster care pursuing a two- or four-year degree.

The program model offers assistance to college students in foster care in the forms of tuition reimbursement, housing fees, a stipend and individual college advisement.

The program started by serving 200 college youth and, as of 2025, has grown to serve over 400 students. ACS' Core Collective Priorities five-year foster care plan was designed to serve and guide New York City foster care practice through 2028. One core priority embedded in this plan is - Improving Well-being and Ensuring Success. College Choice is a key strategy in advancing this priority.
