No Trash, Composting or Recycling Collection on Italian Heritage Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day, Monday, October 12, 2026

The New York City Department of Sanitation announced that in observance of Italian Heritage Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day, there will be NO trash, composting nor recycling collection on the holiday, Monday, October 12, 2026.

• Residents who normally receive Monday trash, Curbside Composting, or recycling collection may place their material at the curb Monday evening for collection beginning Tuesday, October 13.

NOTE FOR ALL RESIDENTS: Collection delays may occur after a holiday. We appreciate patience as we work to collect the backlog of material.

Additionally, the Department is proud that a contingent from the Strongest will both be marching in the annual Columbus Day parade, as well as cleaning up the route before and after the festivities!
