NYC DOC Members Honored for Exceptional Customer Service

A NYC DOC congratulations goes to members of our Facility Maintenance and Repair Division (FMRD) and Director Mui for being honored with the 2025 Excellence in Customer Service Award on Oct.9 at One Police Plaza in Manhattan.

In celebration of National Customer Service Week, each year in October the Mayor’s Office of Operations recognizes city professionals and teams from different agencies for their exceptional commitment to the success of New York City through their customer service. Each award recipient also exemplifies the City’s customer service values of respect, timeliness and quality.

The FMRD team was recognized for leading recent housing unit renovations in jails on Rikers Island to better assist people in custody and staff.

Most recently, the members in this division also worked together to restore one of our Harbor Unit vessels that was utilized to save lives during the September 11th rescue efforts. The boat is now memorialized on Rikers Island in tribute to the bold heroes who served our nation on 9/11 and during the months after.

Director Mui was recognized for her success in client relations. The 11-year DOC veteran was also commended for implementing strategies that enhance user experience and for ensuring technology services meet the needs of all staff in our agency.
