NYC Department of Correction Notification of a Death



Statement from NYC Correction Commissioner Lynelle Maginley-Liddie:

“An individual in the Department’s care has tragically passed away. As we investigate this incident, we keep Mr. Randall’s loved ones in our prayers. This matter will be thoroughly investigated.”
 
Background from the NYC Department of Correction:

At approximately 12:10 p.m., Kryon Randall, 33, who was being held at the George R. Vierno Center, was transferred to Elmhurst Hospital due to what appeared to be an allergic reaction. Despite efforts to provide life-saving care, Mr. Randall was pronounced deceased shortly before 1 a.m.

The Department has notified the Federal Monitor, the Board of Correction, the State Attorney General’s Office, the City Department of Investigation, the State Commission of Correction, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the District Attorneys, and the individual’s attorney of record.

Mr. Randall, age 33, self-identified as African American.
