NYC DOT posts a weekly list of streets, bridges, highways, and tunnels that are temporarily closed for planned construction activities, special events, parades, and other events permitted by NYC DOT. This information is subject to change including all event dates, times, and routes, and does not reflect closures due to emergency situations nor long-term construction projects.

Weekly Traffic Advisory for Saturday April 11, 2026, to Friday April 17, 2026

The City of New York’s Department of Transportation issued a traffic alert for this week providing the locations of road construction and events where lane and street closings will affect the flow of traffic. Lane closings may also occur due to circumstances beyond our control. Major road, lane and street closings for the coming week are as follows:

East River Bridge Crossings

Ed Koch/Queensboro Bridge

One lane on the Manhattan-bound ramp from Thompson Avenue will be closed nightly from 10pm to 5am Monday to Friday, and Saturday from 12:01am to 7am through April 11th, 2026. These closures are necessary for continued steel repair of the Queensboro Bridge. The ramp will return to two lanes outside of the times mentioned.


Manhattan

Battery Park Underpass

As of Sunday April 12th, 2026, through Friday May 8th, 2026, the Northbound and Southbound Battery Park Underpass will be closed weekly (not at the same time) from 10pm Sunday to 5am Monday for continuing work on flood mitigation construction activities on Battery Park Underpass, as permitted by NYCDOT Bridges. Traffic will return to its original configuration after work hours.

Northbound West Street (Route 9A/12th Avenue) between West 30th and West 34th Street

Two out of five northbound lanes will be closed nightly from 11pm Sunday to 5am Monday morning, Saturday from 1am to 8am, and Sunday from 2am to 11am from March 30, 2026, to October 15, 2026, to facilitate the High Line Western Rail Yards Reconstruction Project.

Park Avenue Tunnel at 34th Street and Park Avenue

As of Monday April 6th, through Friday May 1, 2026, the Eastbound and Southbound lanes will be closed from 7am to 3pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 9pm Saturday and Sunday. Lane closures will remain in effect on East 34th eastbound in conjunction with the southbound lane shift currently in effect on Park Avenue. The southbound Park Avenue parking lane will remain a travel lane between East 35th Street and East 33rd Street to accommodate construction. Traffic Enforcement Agents will be on site to facilitate the flow of traffic around work zone. A designated walkway will be maintained at East 34th Street allowing passage when crossing Park Avenue. The Park Avenue Tunnel will remain closed. These closures are necessary for the continued construction operations at the intersection of Park Avenue and East 34th Street, as permitted by NYCDOT Bridges.

FDR Drive between Montgomery Street and East 15 Street

Single-lane northbound and/or southbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10pm to 5am next morning, Saturday from 12:01am to 9am, and Sunday from 1am to 11am. Double-lane will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 1am to 5am, Saturday from 1am to 7am, and Sunday from 1am to 7am. These closures are necessary to facilitate median reconstruction and will continue through August 15, 2026.

FDR East 57th Street between 53rd Street and 62nd Street

Single lane closed in each direction from 11pm Monday night to 4am Friday morning from March 2nd, 2026, to May 29th, 2026. Two lanes in each direction will be maintained at all times. This work is necessary for preventive maintenance on ventilation and access systems, as permitted by NYCDOT-Bridges.

FDR East 84th Street between 73rd Street and 90th Street

Single lane closed in each direction from 11pm Monday night to 4am Friday morning from February 2nd, 2026, to April 30th, 2026. Two lanes in each direction will be maintained at all times. This work is necessary for preventive maintenance on ventilation and access systems, as permitted by NYCDOT-Bridges.

FDR Drive Southbound between Jackson Street and Cherry Street

Single-lane will be closed Friday from 11pm to 7am next morning, and Sunday from 11pm to 10am next morning. Double-lane will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 1am to 5am, Saturday from 1am to 6am, and Sunday from 1am to 7am. These closures are necessary to facilitate East Side Coastal Resiliency Project and will continue through September 11, 2026.


Festivals, Parades and Events

NYC Tartan Day Parade

The following streets will be closed Saturday April 11th, 2026, for the NYC Tartan Day Parade event at the Discretion of the NYPD in Manhattan

Formation:
  • 44th Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue
  • 45th Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue
Route:
  • 6th Avenue between West 44th Street and 55th Street
Dispersal:
  • 55th Street between 6th Avenue and 7th Avenue

Bronx/Manhattan

Broadway Bridge over the Harlem River

As of Monday April 6th, 2026, to Friday April 17th, 2026, a single lane will be closed from 7am to 3pm, and a double lane will be closed from 10am to 2pm. These closures are in addition to the current Manhattan-bound right lane and adjacent sidewalk closures. At least one lane in each direction will be available at all times. These closures are necessary for the continued structural steel repairs on the Broadway Bridge as permitted by NYCDOT Bridges.


Bronx

Hutchinson River Parkway Bridge over the Hutchinson River

As of Monday April 13th, 2026, and intermittently through Friday May 8th, 2026, a full bridge closure will take place in either northbound or southbound direction of the bridge (not at the same time) weeknights from 12:0am to 5am. Traffic will return to its original configuration after work hours. The closures are necessary to conduct structural repairs on the Hutchinson River Parkway Bridge as permitted by NYCDOT Bridges.

Shore Road Bridge over the Hutchinson River

As of Monday March 30th, 2026, and intermittently through Friday April 24th, 2026, single lane closures will take place during daytime hours northbound from 7am to 9am, northbound and southbound from 9am to 1pm, and nighttime northbound and southbound from 10pm to 7am. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times. These closures are necessary to facilitate continued routine maintenance, structure and under-deck repairs of the Shore Road Bridge over the Hutchinson River as permitted by NYCDOT Bridges.

Cross Bronx Expressway (I-95) between Arthur Avenue and Clay Avenue

Single-lane will be closed in both directions Monday to Friday from 12:01am to 5am and double-lane will be closed from 1am to 5am, except holidays. These closures are to facilitate rehabilitation of the bridges overpassing Webster Avenue, Metro-North Railroad, and Third Avenue and will continue through December 14, 2026.


Brooklyn

Brooklyn Bridge

Beginning Thursday night, the eastbound left lane will be closed from 10pm to 5am through April 24, 2026, for replacing deteriorated timber strings and walkway planks at multiple locations on Brooklyn side span and staging equipment.

Belt Parkway Bridge over 26th Avenue

As of Monday April 6th, 2026, through Friday May 1st, 2026, a single lane in either direction will be closed from 11pm to 5am, and a double lane will be closed from 1am to 5am Monday to Friday. One open traffic lane in each direction opposite direction will be maintained at all times. Traffic will return to its normal configuration after work hours. These closures are necessary to facilitate the rehabilitation work on the Belt Parkway Bridge over 26th Avenue as permitted by NYCDOT Bridges.

Brooklyn Queens Expressway

One lane in both directions on Old Fulton Street under the BQE and one sidewalk walk will be closed (Pedestrians directed to the opposite sidewalk) Monday to Friday from 9pm to 5am, and Saturday from 9pm to 7am nightly through the end of April 2026. These closures are necessary for the rehabilitation of the Staten Island-bound BQE over Old Fulton Street and is dependent on the weather and field conditions as permitted by NYCDOT.

Union Street Bridge over the Gowanus Canal

As of Monday March 30th, 2026, and intermittently to Friday April 24th, 2026, the bridge will be fully closed to cyclists, motorists and pedestrians from 11pm to 5am weeknights, and from 7am to 2pm weekends. The bridge will re-open after work hours. An extended closure may be required based on field conditions as work progresses. These closures are necessary for conducting repairs on the Union Street Bridge over Gowanus Canal as permitted by NYCDOT Bridges.

Third Street Bridge over the Gowanus Canal

As of Tuesday April 14th, 2026, through Friday April 24th, 2026, the bridge will be fully closed between 11pm to 5am Tuesday nights into Wednesday mornings and Thursday night into Friday mornings. The bridge will re-open after work hours. These closures are necessary to conduct the continued repairs on the Third Street Bridge over Gowanus Canal.

Ninth Street Bridge over Gowanus Canal

As per Monday March 23rd, 2026, and intermittently through Friday April 17th, 2026, a full bridge closure will be necessary on weeknights from 11pm to 5am and on weekends from 7am to 2pm. All vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians will be diverted to adjacent bridges over the Gowanus Canal. The bridge will reopen after hours. This closure is necessary for the conducting repairs on the Ninth Street Bridge over Gowanus Canal as permitted by NYCDOT.


Brooklyn/Queens

Greenpoint Avenue Bridge over Newton Creek

As of Monday March 30th, 2026, and intermittently through April 24th, 2026, a single lane will be closed on either Eastbound or Westbound direction (not at the same time) from 11pm to 5am Monday to Friday. During repairs, the bike lanes will be open on both directions. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times. Traffic will be restored to its original configuration after work hours. These closures are necessary for conducting repairs on Greenpoint Avenue Bridge, as permitted by NYCDOT Bridges.

Pulaski Bridge over Newtown Creek

As of Thursday March 12, 2026, and intermittently through Friday April 10th a single lane in each direction northbound and southbound (not at the same time) will be closed weeknights between 11pm and 5am. At least one lane in each direction will be maintained at all times. Traffic will return to its original configuration after work hours. Three Queens bound lanes (northbound) will be closed and single right lane Brooklyn bound (southbound) will be closed in each direction northbound and southbound weeknights from 11pm to 5am weekdays March 4th, 2026, to Friday July 31st, 2026. These closures are necessary to install brake rehabbed and install warning gate boxes and brakes on the Pulaski Bridge as permitted by NYSDOT Bridges.


Queens

130 Avenue Bridge over Belt Parkway

As of Monday March 30th, 2026, through Friday April 24th, 2026, the south sidewalk will be closed to pedestrians. The newly reconstructed north sidewalk of the bridge will be open. Lane closure on 130th Avenue will remain necessary Monday to Friday from 7am to 7pm, Saturday 8am to 6pm, and Sunday from 9am to 6pm. One lane in each direction will be maintained. Traffic lanes will return to normal configuration after work hours. This work is necessary for the continued rehabilitation work of the south sidewalk of the 130 Avenue Bridge over the Belt Parkway as permitted by NYCDOT Bridges.

Merrick Boulevard Bridge over the Belt Laurelton Parkway

As of April 6th, 2026, and intermittently to April 30th, 2026, there will be lane and shoulder closures along Merrick Boulevard and Belt Laurelton Parkway from 10am to 3pm and/or 10pm to 5am Monday to Friday. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained at all times. Lanes will return to their normal configuration after work hours. These closures are necessary to conduct inspections of the Merrick Boulevard Bridges over Belt Laurelton Parkway Northbound and Southbound in Queens.

Grand Central Parkway at Long Island Expressway Interchange

Single-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 10am to 2pm, Monday to Thursday from 10pm to 5am next morning, Friday from 10pm to 7am next morning, Saturday from 10am to 3pm and from 10pm to 3pm next day. Double-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01am to 5am, Saturday from 1am to 6am, and Sunday from 1am to 9am. Single-lane westbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Thursday from 10pm to 5am next morning, Friday from 10pm to 6am next morning, Saturday from 10am to 3pm and from 10pm to 3pm next day. Double-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01am to 5am, Saturday from 12:01am to 6am, and Sunday from 1am to 9am. These closures are necessary to facilitate Safety and Mobility Improvements and will continue through April 23, 2026.

Grand Central Parkway Eastbound between Roosevelt Avenue and 54 Avenue

Eastbound mainline will be closed for 15 minutes at a time, Monday to Friday from 12:01am to 5am, Saturday from 1am to 6am, and Sunday from 1am to 9am through April 23, 2026, to facilitate sign structure removal and installation. The mainline shoulder lane will be closed 24/7 along the project limit to replace sections with traversable curbs and guiderail.

Hillside Avenue Bridge over Cross Island Parkway

Single-lane closures in either direction on the Cross Island Parkway will take place Monday March 30th, to Friday April 24th, 2026, weekdays from 9am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and Weekends Saturday from 8am to 6pm, Sunday 9am to 6pm. At least one lane in each direction will be maintained at all times. Northern sidewalk will be open to pedestrians and southern sidewalk will be closed. Traffic will return to its original configuration after work hours. These closures are necessary to continue the rehabilitation of the southern half of Hillside Avenue Bridge as permitted by NYCDOT Bridges.

Springfield Boulevard Bridge over Belt Southern Parkway between North Conduit Avenue and South Conduit Avenue

Single-lane and double lane closures will take place Monday March 30th to Friday April 24th, 2026, from 10pm to 5am weeknights (single-lane closure), and from 1am to 5am (double-lane closure), for the continued rehabilitation of the eastern sidewalk of the Springfield Boulevard Bridge. One lane in each direction will be maintained. Traffic lanes will return to normal configuration after work hours. These closures are necessary for the continued rehabilitation of the Eastern sidewalk of the Springfield Boulevard Bridge over Belt Southern Parkway between North and South Conduit Avenues as permitted by NYCDOT Bridges.

Mayor’s First 100 Days

The following streets will be closed Sunday April 12th, 2026, for the Mayor’s First 100 Days event at the Discretion of the NYPD in Queens

This street will be closed from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday through June 20, 2026 for new Stapleton Waterfront Southern Infrastructure.
