Starting January 10, 2021, new buildings and alterations that replace all exterior glazing of a building will have to comply with new bird friendly design requirements based on Local Law 15 of 2020. Read the full Service Notice here.

Exterior glazing refers to a building's glass panels and elements. According to the law, it does not apply to:

• Alterations that do not replace all of the exterior glazing of the building;

• Storefront replacements of a portion of exterior glazing within the building.

Please Note: Filings prior to January 10, 2021 that have not yet reached job status D in BIS or are pending CPE/ACPE or Prof Cert QA assignment status in DOB NOW will need to meet the new bird friendly design and construction requirements.
